About the painting
In this oil painting, Abraham Walkowitz depicts a serene, rural scene, in which his influences and Modernist origins are visualized. The bright shades of yellows and oranges make the work lively and bountiful, with hay stretching for miles into the canvas. Only some hints of green are used in the foreground to disrupt the monochromatic colors. Walkowitz leaves his works unresolved, the linework highlighted in its fluidity and jittery nature.
