Artist Bio

American mural painter and craftsman, Albert Herter, was born in New York on March 2, 1871. He was a pupil of the Art Students League of New York under Beckwith; Laurens and Cormon in Paris. Herter received many awards, among which are: honorable mention in Paris Salon in 1890; medal at Atlanta Expo. in 1895; Lippincott prize at Penna. Academy of Fine Arts in 1897; honorable mention at Nashville Expo. in 1897; Evans prize at American WaterColor Society in 1899; bronze medal at Paris Expo. in 1900; and silver medal at Pan Am Expo. in Buffalo in 1901. Herter was a member of Society of American Artists, 1894; Associate National academy of Design, 1906, American WaterColor Society; N.Y. Water Color Club; Mural Painters; NY Architectural League, 1901, and Century Association.
